KGSP Phone Interview
Hello! 안녕하세요?
I want to share my own experience when I get a chance to do the phone interview when I'm applying to the Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) 2016 for Graduate study via university track. As you are reading this blog, you might have a purpose for pursuing your dreams to continue your studies to Korea :)
Sometimes, the interview came without any notice. So, you have to prepare before the interview day comes. I was prepared for the interview right after I was submitted my application, even though I didn't know yet whether I will be interviewed or not. Hahaha! But you have to be optimistic, right? :) and you have to be ready in case the interviewer calls you without any previous notice.
At that time, I didn't know what the interview would be. I believe that the questions would be different depending on each person, and it depends on which university & what major you are applying to. However, they will ask you about the general things to get to know a little bit more about your personality and how well you can express yourself. They will ask based on what you wrote on your application.
Based on my own experience, a lady from the Architecture Department called me without any notice (it was on March 28th, 2016 around 5 PM KST). So, I got notified by phone and email only one day before the phone interview. My interview was on March 29th, 2016 at 4 PM KST (2 PM in Jakarta, Indonesia). I've had the interview with Professor Lee from the Architecture Department. Usually, the phone interview will not take more than 10 minutes. Mine was only 7 minutes :p
I did the interview in English (my native language is Bahasa). He asked me first to introduce myself. Then, I told him my name, nationality, age, my bachelor's degree, where I'm working now, the reason to continue my studies, very similar to what I wrote in the Form.2 Self Introduction. I took my bachelor's degree studies in the evening program and I was employed at three different companies during my 4.5 years of studies. So, I was working and studying at the same time. Therefore, he asked me about my bachelor's degree, am I enjoying myself work and study at that time? What am I expecting from doing that?
He also asked me about Korean Language. How long I have been learning Korean? Can I read and write in Hangeul? Since I also submitted my certificate of Korean language course, he asked me to try to introduce myself in Korean (I didn't prepare for this part tho). The professor also told me that he was impressed with my application, and hoping that I will be able to continue my studies in Korea. By the way, his English pronunciation is really good while I speak horrible English. Hahaha! Those are the questions I remember.
Even though I failed this year, I am very pleased to have this opportunity. I admit that I was very upset at that time. I was prepared for the application for quite a long time, and I felt so disappointed with myself. However, I believe that Allah has a better plan for me. I hope that my own experience would be useful for you. So, please please please prepare well for the application & interview. Therefore, you won't feel the same way like I did. :)
If you have a plan to apply KGSP, please leave your message in the comment box below. We can discuss more about KGSP :) Do not hesitate to tell me your stories, because I would love to read it. If I could, I will help you with all I can, based on my own experience.

Terima kasih
